BEST CAPSIM EXPERTS
If you want to start a new simulation, you must first sign up with us and create an account. This is something you will only have to do once. To register, please go to www.capsim.com and choose New Professors Only: Registration from the menu bar. Start with the First Course. Please fill out the form on the new screen that appears once you click “Continue.” Following approval of your account, you will be able to connect to the site and begin working on a course. Are you looking for Capsim Professor Help? Worry no more! We got you covered!
GETTING A COURSE UP AND RUNNING
If you want to start a course, go to www.capsim.com and choose Launch a New Course from the left-hand navigation option.
AGREEMENT FOR PARTICIPATION
INFORMATION ABOUT THE COURSE
By picking material from a prior course, you may save time on the typing portion of the task. Otherwise, the Setup Wizard will assist you in swiftly entering the necessary information, which includes the name of the institution, the location of the campus, and the level of the course. We also need an estimate of the number of participants as well as an estimate of the start and end times. It is not necessary to know the exact number of participants or the dates of the course.
Capstone is intended for those who are more experienced in their skills. Foundation is intended for first-time participants or for courses with limited time resources, such as short course.
The Comp-XM Competency Exam will assist you in determining the degree of knowledge held by your participants. Comp-XM is available in two flavors: Basix, which is based on the edition scenario (Capstone or Foundation), and Concepts, which is based on a scenario that is close but not identical. There is an additional charge for Comp-XM.
Plug-ins allow you to include management choices in your simulation scenario. For example, the Ethics plug-in requires participants to wrestle with challenges that will have both short- and long-term implications for the company’s profit margins in the future. Plug-ins are subject to an additional charge.
OPTIMIZATION AND CUSTOMIZATION OF SIMULATION DATA
Scenarios Instructors may choose from three different “scenarios.” The annual growth rates and prime financing interest rates differ in each of the following:
A typical Capstone/Foundation situation is the tried and tested Capstone/Foundation scenario. A steady rate of growth is seen in market sectors, and the prime interest rate begins at 7.5 percent and grows by 0.5 percent every year after that.
Growth Scenario (Optimal Case):
Some professors will be more comfortable expressing this unpredictability that exists in the actual world. At the conclusion of eight years, the segment demand grows by the same amount as in the Standard scenario, but the annual growth rates fluctuate from year to year within a range of 4.0 percent .
The Capstone Courier or The Foundation FastTrack, an industry periodical, publishes growth rates for each segment for the future year. Participants have no way of knowing if growth rates will rise or fall in the next year.
This scenario begins similarly to the Growth scenario, but by Year 5 the simulation economy has collapsed, and the average industry growth rate has plummeted to a shocking -7.0 percent. The economy remains stationary in Year 6, with an average annual growth rate of 0.0 percent.
In Year 7, the industry starts to recover, and in Year 8, life returns to normal with growth rates comparable to those seen before to the crisis. During a recession, the prime rate is reduced to 4.0 percent, after which it returns to normal levels after the economy recovers from the recession.
Participants are not informed of their scenario type or specifics such as the year in which they should anticipate a growth variance or a recession in the Capsim learning materials. Growth rates and interest rates for the future year are only known to participants since they were published in the Courier/FastTrack newspaper the previous year.
The announced rates are valid for the whole year; however, there may be surprises the following year when the new rates are released. Example: When the recession begins, participants are aware of the amount each section will decline, but they are unaware of the time frame in which they will recover.
It is up to each individual educator to determine how much uncertainty their students can bear in a given situation. For upperclassmen, graduates, and corporate participants, it may be suitable to throw a whole surprise party. For underclassmen, it may be necessary to disclose “warning indications of a recession” two years in advance in order to prevent participants from overspending on available space and resources.
The Standard, Growth, and Recession scenarios may all be changed by changing the parameters. Throughout each course (and a course may have many sectors), each industry will be exposed to the same tailored environment. Customization possibilities enable for the design of snowflake simulations that are fundamentally the same from course to course, but that appear completely different. Customization options may provide a distinctive spin to a lesson while yet being recognizable to the educator.. Previous participants’ capacity to “guide” current participants is likewise diminished as a result of customization.
Monte Carlo Randomized
Small levels of randomness are used to generate the Monte Carlo (randomized) growth rates, interest rates, and segment positions in the model. The same randomization is used across all sectors within the course. (If you want different randomization in two or more sectors, you will need to create distinct courses for each industry.)
The growth and interest rates are just a few percentage points different from the base scenario. As a group, all segments and their ideal places are moved up to 1.4 units on the Perceptual Map, retaining the overlaps between them. The segment centers are also moved up to 1.4 units on the Perceptual Map. The segment drift rates have remained constant. Because of the randomization, it is almost hard for past participants’ judgments to be replicated with any degree of success.
The interest rate for each year, as well as each segment’s unique growth rate (ranging between -10.0 percent and +25.0 percent) for each year, may be overridden by instructors. The beginning segment centers can be moved up to 1.4 units on the Perceptual Map by instructors (plus or minus 1.0 unit in size and 1.0 unit in performance).
The segment drift rates have remained constant. It is highly recommended that only teachers with prior expertise utilize the Custom option for their courses. When working on a custom scenario, Capsim help will be restricted due to the fact that the support staff has never encountered anything like it before and will not have much expertise to share with your class.
