Instructors may evaluate the participant registration process by clicking on the registration links and pausing at the payment page to review the procedure. After completing the registration process and providing payment information, participants will be included in the Industry Roster. Participants must first read and agree to a short set of terms and conditions before proceeding. Participants who know their Industry ID may input that number to move straight to the industry they’re familiar with. Are you looking for Capsim Participant Environment Experts? Worry no more! The Industry ID is not a registration number, as many people believe. Those who do not have access to the Industry ID will have the chance to find the institution. Once there, users may search for the appropriate industry by using the following criteria:

  • The course’s official name
  • Section number (if applicable)
  • The location of the campus
  • The initials of the professor

After that, participants fill up their personal information. Following that, students establish a user ID and password, which they will use for all future logins to www.capsim.com as well as for viewing the Excel® spreadsheets they will be creating. In the event that participants purchased an information package from a bookshop or if the school provided them with registration numbers, they will click on the option labeled I Have a Registration Number.

At least 10 digits are used in the creation of registration numbers. The vast majority of participants pay online using a credit card or a cheque. This page allows participants to take a break and pay later by logging into their account on the website capsim.com using their user ID and password.

 ACCESS TO PARTICIPANTS

After completing their registration, participants should return to the www.capsim.com site and input their user ID and password again. On the next page, they will see a link that will enable them to access their Capstone or Foundation online sites. During the course of a Comp XM examination, participants will be able to enter the test from this website once it has begun.

GETTING THINGS STARTED

The Capstone or Foundation web pages will include a section titled “Getting Started” when participants visit them for the first time. When they log in for the second time, they will be sent to their Dashboard; however, the Getting Started page will still be accessible via a link in their menu.

LESSON ONE: INTRODUCTORY LESSON

The corporate orientation starts with a short introduction to the organization’s policies and procedures. The Capstone or Foundation Spreadsheets are used to guide students through the sensor business and the judgments that must be taken. After that, participants may put their knowledge to the test by taking a quiz.

THE CONDITIONS OF THE INDUSTRY REPORT

Here you will learn about the Industry Conditions Report, which defines the segment positions and segment purchasing criteria for the various segments. Industry-specific segment locations might differ based on the customization choices, which can be found here.

THE MEMBER OF THE TEAM GUIDES

This section contains information on the printed and online guides. The participant Help link also provides access to the in-depth Online Team Member Guide, which may be found on the website. The Online Guide, which is fully searchable, also contains a section on how to use the spreadsheets.

THE TUTORIAL FOR THE REHEARSAL

It is important to remember that the Think of the Rehearsal Tutorial teaches participants the basics of simulation techniques, such as how to design and update items, make marketing judgments, plan production schedules, acquire and sell equipment, and make fundamental financial decisions.

Access to industry publications, such as The Capstone Courier or Foundation FastTrack, is provided to all participants. These newsletters provide a comprehensive year-end assessment on the sensor business, including information on consumer purchasing trends, product placements, production capacity, and publicly available financial data. The Courier and FastTrack may be accessed via the Reports link on the website, and the Capstone and Foundation Spreadsheets can be accessed through the Courier or FastTrack menus.

THE ANALYSIS OF THE SITUATION

The Situation Analysis provides an overview of the sensor market and forecasts where it will be five rounds (simulated years) down the road. The analysis is divided into five sections:

  • Visualization of the Perceptual Map
  • Demand and Supply Analysis
  • Capacity Planning and Evaluation
  • Analyzes the margins of a product or service
  • Consumer Reports & Surveys

The analysis may be completed either online or with a pen and paper exercise (available in the printed Guide). Individual participants may be assigned portions by companies, and they can then report back to the community on their progress.

SELECT YOUR STRATEGY

This section contains a link to the article Six Basic Strategies from the Online Guide, which provides firms with straightforward ideas about the direction of their businesses. However, these tactics are not required; corporations are free to develop whatever plan they like.

MODULES AND PLUG-INS FOR EXTRA VALUE

Participants will be alerted in this area if any extra modules or plug-ins are planned for the event. Any planned modules are included in the Task List on the participant’s Dashboard, which includes links to online documentation for each task.

DASHBOARD

Participants are sent to the Getting Started area the first time they log into the system. Participants are sent straight to their own Dashboard on each subsequent login. There is still a link to the Getting Started section accessible. A second link to the Rehearsal Tutorial may be found on the Dashboard as well.

LIST OF TASKS

The participant task list notifies participants of impending activities, such as the following:

  • The date and time of the round deadline (assuming that the teacher has recorded them in the Course Schedule)
  • Rounds when further modules are anticipated to begin, along with hyperlinks to relevant material;
  • Rounds of peer evaluations have been arranged.
  • Homework is scheduled for each round.
  • Reminders if Tutorial Quizzes have not been finished, or dates when they have not been done.

ROSTER OF STUDENTS

In tournament simulations, the roster lists each player on each team, or if a corporation is controlled by a computer, the roster lists each employee. Team Building Exercises This section displays the number of times each participant has signed into the Capsim website, as well as the date and time when they last submitted Official Decisions.
